Upon arrival in Muscat, you will be transferred to local restaurant for lunch.
Make a visit to the glamourous Royal Opera House Muscat, the most important place in the Sultanate of Oman for music, art, and culture.
Muscat is the capital and largest city of Oman, known for its vibrant culture, which is a blend of traditional Omani heritage and modern influences. Visit the majestic Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the largest mosque of with an imposing 90-meter-tall minaret. Next, drive to Muttrah Corniche, where we will enter Muttrah Souq, one of the oldest Arabic markets, also Oman’s largest indoor market that sells Omani frankincense, artefacts, jewellery and more.
After lunch, proceed to visit Bait Al Zubair Museum, located in a collection of traditional Omani houses, which showcases traditional Omani lifestyle, craftsmanship, a mix of different Omani cultural and historic artefacts.
In the late afternoon, board a Private Omani Traditional Dhow Cruise to sail on the Sea of Oman to soak in the views of the sunset and coastal area of Muscat, sailing pass the Al Alam Palace, Al Jalali and Al Mirani Forts, and Muttrah.
After breakfast, hop on to your 4WD vehicle as we will set out to Sharqiya Sands, with sightseeing stops along the way. We would first stop at Bimmah Sinkhole after driving about 1.5 hours, before continuing the drive along the beautiful Omani coast and enjoy a picnic lunch enroute. Proceed to Sur to visit the insightful Dhow Museum and hike up near a lighthouse for Sur’s skyline viewpoint.
Transfer to Sharqiya Sands for an amazing private luxury camp experience, set up specially for us, where you can appreciate the tranquillity of the desert over a two-night stay.
Make an excursion to Wadi Bani Khalid with picnic lunch. Famed for its palm-fringed emerald pools, it is among the most beautiful desert oasis in Oman.
After traditional Omani kahwa and dates with a local Bedouin family, soak in the adrenaline with 4WD dune bashing followed by sunset over Sharqiya sands.
Leaving the desert behind, we will drive about 2 hours to Birkat Al Mauz for a picnic lunch. Stroll through the atmospheric Omani village ruins, known for its impressive Falaj irrigation system which is inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Thereafter, we drive up to Jebal Akhdar, also known as the Green Mountain of the Hajar Mountains, and check-in to the hotel.
Enjoy sundowners at Diana’s Point, a scenic overlook offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding valleys, canyons, and terraced farms, making it a favourite spot for photographers.
Get active with Al Aqr and Al Ayn villages hike along mountain trails and terraced fields. The Bani Riyam tribe has shaped the mountain terraces which are seasonally planted with roses, pomegranates and olive trees. Our next stop is the abandoned village of Wadi Bani Habib. Follow the old farm trails through the farmlands of pomegranates and walnut trees.
Early this morning, drive 1.5-hour to Nizwa and be awed by the fascinating Cattle Market that takes place every Friday, where the locals from nearby villages gather to auction their goats, sheep, cattle and livestock in an open marketplace. Explore Nizwa Souq and visit the 17th century Nizwa Fort which offers gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains from its tower.
After the visit of Nizwa, we will make our way to Bahla, home to the mighty UNESCO-listed Bahla Fort before driving a little further to the intricate Jabreen Castle. We then continue to the Oman Across the Ages Museum in Manah, one of Oman’s newest museums with great displays ranging from the earliest settlements found in Oman to the modern country it is today.
Subsequently, we return to Muscat for a farewell dinner before transferring to the airport for your flight out.
