After its 1959 successful revolution by political leader Fidel Castro, Cuba was literally closed off to the outside world and time seems to have stood still since then. One of the last bastions of the Communist old world right at the door step of USA , Cuba has since opened up its doors to the world and now offers a higher level of accommodation and restaurants.
Today, the country still evokes a nostalgic aura – beautiful colonial architecture of yesteryears, vintage convertible cars, jazz music, street dancing, cigars, rum, and images of Fidel Castro while the daily contradiction of life tells endless intriguing stories. For the culturally interested and discerning travellers, it is one of the few unique travel experiences left today.
The best time to visit Cuba is during the dry season from Dec to May. The wet season starts around June and best to avoid August to October when there is a risk of tycoons.
